Blackout poetry

Next week class 8B will work to create so called Blackout Poems on the theme bullying. Blackout poems is a brilliant and creative way of ”writing” poems with the help of something someone else has written (ie a newspaper article, a page from a book etc).

The poetry focuses on rearranging words to create a new meaning. By using a black marker or black acrylic paint to eliminate ”unnecessary” or irrelevant words, the words or phrases that you have chosen to include in your poem will stand out. Do you understand? If not, check out the instruction video and the pictures below.

If you have a text in English at home that you would like to work with, please bring it to class on Monday. I’ll bring some extra in case you arrive empty handed 🙂
